A few injections or a short treatment period may not be enough to judge the full effect of GLP-1 therapy. The dose, duration, side effects, adherence, reason for stopping and weight pattern after discontinuation should be reviewed before calling the treatment unsuccessful.
GLP-1 medication may be used before surgery, instead of surgery in selected cases, or after surgery when clinically appropriate. The sequence should be individualised.
