1. Who we are
NextWeight Korea (“we,” “us”) is an international patient coordination platform that helps patients access obesity, metabolic, and bariatric care in Korea. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

2. Information we collect
We collect information that you provide to us directly:
- Contact information: name, country of residence, nationality, preferred language, WhatsApp number, email address
- Health information: age, sex, height, weight, BMI, health conditions, medications, medical history, previous surgery, previous weight-loss treatments, and any medical documents you upload or send to us (laboratory results, medical reports, surgical records, imaging reports)
- Planning information: treatment interests, preferred travel dates, travel companion details you choose to share
- Communication records: messages exchanged with us by form, email, or WhatsApp
We also collect limited technical information automatically when you use the website (such as device type, browser, pages visited, and approximate location by country) through cookies or similar technologies, used for website operation and improvement. [Cookie details to be completed based on final analytics setup.]
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. Our services are intended for adults and for family members inquiring on an adult patient's behalf.
3. Why we collect it (purpose of collection)
We collect and use your information only to:
- Conduct the preliminary review you request
- Coordinate with partner hospitals in Korea regarding your care
- Communicate with you about your inquiry, review, planning, and follow-up
- Help arrange travel-related support you request
- Meet legal and regulatory obligations
- Operate and improve our website and services
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your health information for advertising.
4. Health information and medical documents
Health information is sensitive, and we treat it that way:
- Medical documents are stored securely with access limited to staff involved in your coordination
- We collect health information only with your consent, given when you submit a form or send us documents
- We share your medical information only with the partner hospital(s) reviewing or providing your care, and only for the purposes of review, treatment planning, and coordination
- Where documents require translation for hospital review, translation is handled under confidentiality obligations
5. Communication by email and WhatsApp
With your consent, we communicate with you by email and WhatsApp, including about your health information where you have chosen to share it through those channels. Please be aware that WhatsApp and email are third-party services with their own security characteristics and privacy policies; if you prefer not to share medical documents through them, tell us and we will offer an alternative upload method.
6. Sharing your information
We share personal information only:
- With partner hospitals in Korea — for review and coordination of your care, as described above
- With service providers who support our operations (such as secure hosting or translation) under confidentiality obligations, and only to the extent needed
- Where required by law — if a legal obligation compels disclosure
Because you are located outside Korea, coordinating your care involves transferring your information internationally — from your country to Korea and back. By using our services, you consent to these transfers for the purposes described in this policy. [Cross-border transfer mechanics to be confirmed in legal review.]
7. Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Inquiry information for inquiries that do not proceed: retained for [X months], then deleted
- Coordination and medical records for patients who proceed: retained for [X years] to support follow-up and meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized
- You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Your rights below), subject to legal retention requirements
[Retention periods to be finalized in legal review.]
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information, subject to legal retention obligations
- Withdraw consent to processing or communication at any time — withdrawing consent stops future processing but does not affect what was lawfully done before
- Receive a copy of the information you provided
- Complain to a data protection authority in your jurisdiction
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@nextweightkorea.com or on WhatsApp. We will respond within [X days].
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure storage for medical documents. No system is completely secure; if a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, will always be available on this page. Material changes will be communicated to active patients directly.
